Eritrea, officially the State of Eritrea, is a country in the Horn of Africa. Eritrea is the Italian form of the Greek name ἘÏυθÏαίᾱ (ErythraÃÄ), meaning "red [land land]". The capital is Asmara. It is bordered by Sudan in the west, Ethiopia in the south, and Djibouti in the southeast. The northeast and east of the country has an extensive coastline on the Red Sea, directly across from Saudi Arabia and Yemen. The Dahlak Archipelago and several of the Hanish Islands are part of Eritrea.

Visas required by all except nationals from Kenya and Uganda.
Passport with appropriate visa obtainable from any Eritrean Diplomatic Mission abroad. No visa is required for;
i.) Employees of air/shipping lines represented in Eritrea traveling on duty;
ii.) Boat tourists arriving in Massawa and Assab for 48 hours, but shore pass required.
A visa on arrival available to group visitors upon prior notification through travel agents or tour operators in Eritrea.
Visa prices depend of where you are from and valid for a one month visit, valid for 3 months from issue date. Visas start at US$50 for a 30 day visa.
A business visa requires an invitation from a company in Eritrea.
